Entropy is ?

All over the Brain Lab, Lingo, study subjects, and students alike left traces of their time at the lab leaving cryptic notes, signs, and objects showing "I was here." One fun activity at the lab was hunting around for these signs, autographs, and one line philosophies to be found on dead logs or even the walls of buildings. During the visit today a few of Lingo's favorite metal labels could still be found on trees througout the property, one shown below still attached to the original tree stump, to inspire and stimulate an inquiring mind....

Please note that the actual tree condition above,
is illustrative of the definition placed upon it...

Other metal label philoshopies found today:

"April Fool 78 Goodman/Giurado Syndrome"
(An inside joke/reminder about two fellows Lingo and others found less than completely turstworthy- I could fill you in on more about these actual people...!)

"What could be better than this? 21 Aug 81"
Is this an observation from Nirvana? - or a question to ponder?

Found next to a big hole in the ground today, where the library used to stand...
"Economics determines consciousness" !!

A personal story concerning these little metal messages...

In October 1992, in front of several witnesses, T.D. Lingo made it clear that he intended me to acquire ownership of the property at his death, since I had been his primary assistant in brain lab doings for the last of many years. I immediately shared this exciting news with many people, and one in particular made it abundantly clear to me to: "GET IT IN WRITING."

This person not only told me this once, but several times. My response was "Well, he's not dying anytime soon, and there's plenty of time for that." I felt that this issue could be left alone for a while.

Six months later, Lingo died. He never made a will.

All of the brain lab property went into custody of his only living heir, his stepson, whom he had absolutely no communication with, and who had no interest in either Lingo's work or continuation of the brain lab research.

I got the reserach papers, Lingo's guitar, a brain in a jar (used for lessons), and a few knick-knacks.

The land is now selling for several million dollars, and I am sure you can figure out what the moral of this story is.

But the really strange part is this: About a week after Lingo died, he visited me in a dream from beyond the grave. He took me by the shoulders, and pointed me in a certain specific direction on the brain lab property. Shortly thereafter, I went up to the property again, and walked over to a spot pointed to me in the dream. There I found a tree I had never really looked at before, and one of those metal labels with a short saying was tacked onto this tree.

This tag had a short one line message. And with what I had just gone through with the ownership of the property passing through my fingers, this message will remain in my memory forever. The little metal tag asked this question:

"Control or Chance?"
