Neil Slade: A Short Autobiography

I was born in Longbranch, New Jersey. I wrote and played some music. To be continued.

Okay. Here's a little more....

This is me with my trusty 1952 Paris Selmer Super Balanced Action alto sax. "Honk" originally belonged to one of the (real human) musicians on those gigantic Kool cigarette billboards in the 70's. That is where the Camel "Joe Cool" smoking musicians idea originally came from. (I do not smoke cigarettes and take no responsibility for the millions of nicotine addicts created as a result of my previous teacher and his saxophone on these billboards.)

Although I started out in 4th grade playing the alto sax, I have recorded and performed on piano (the "main" instrument), synthesizer, flute, soprano sax, and guitar.

I began writing music at the age of nine, and started recording it on a little portable tape recorder in Jr. High School. This eventually led to elaborate studio recordings starting in 1982 which has continued to the present. My music has been heard on radio and national television, although I will admit, due to the advanced and superior quality of these compositions, this has excluded any Top 10 Billboard hits.

The first groups organized during music school college days played meticulously arranged original instrumental music with lots of improvisation. Bach meets Stravinsky meets Frank Zappa meets John McLaughlin .

After getting a B.A. in Music, (four years was more than enough), I have explored all kinds of musical styles. This has included solos with symphony orchestras, television soundtracks, and a zillion public performances of jazz, classical, and other assorted music. In addition to music, I have painted as far back asI can remember (see Art gallery), and have taught myself basic computer web programing, as this site demonstrates. I have written three books (not War and Peace I admit) and am presently working on another.

Here's my official Resume.(hmmm, what for....?)

In case you are wondering what's all this brain stuff....I blaim it all on my illustrious Brain Guru, T.D.A. Lingo.
